Role: Head - People & Culture. Designated as Vice President or Sr Vice President. Exceptional candidates can be at CHRO level.

Purpose of the role: Help build Wheelocity as a great place to work.

Key Objectives:

  1. Help reinforce great work culture through employee engagement:

    As the founding team of Wheelocity, we have laid out a clear culture code - a set of 8 core values and 5 "ways of life" that all Wheelocitians live by. While we have laid these out, I believe the success of this lies in embodying them and imbibing these values in the organization through various initiatives.

    The HR-Head would be primarily expected to drive these values in the org through various employee engagement activities & SRS (Stories-Rituals-Symbols).

    This is especially important given the fact that we have three types of teams (1) Strategy, Leadership & Corporate teams @ Chennai (2) Product/Engineering teams + 2 Leadership team members based @ Bangalore (3) Field team spread pan-India; and that the aspirations/expectations of these teams are widely varying.

  2. Build Wheelocity as a Talent Magnet for A-listers:

    The problem we're solving would require us to build out an all-star team of self-starters at all levels. The HR Head would play a pivotal role in attracting great talent into Wheelocity, and this is a key expectation from this role.

  3. Build a robust Comp & Ben Strategy to retain talent:

    Given the dynamics of the industry (SCM, Agri, tech) and the startup space in general, we will need to build a robust and scientific comp & ben strategy inline with evolving industry needs. This would include monetary & non-monetary aspects and we will need expert support on this.

  4. Provide leadership to the Ops-HR team:

    We have a 6-member HR team already that takes care of the ops part of HR (salary/payroll, statutory, operational part of recruitment), as well as does a great job in field recruitment (this team basically helped us ramp up to 250+ member field team in the past 12 months). While this team executes greatly, they will need leadership/guidance with respect to the direction as we grow

Ideal candidate persona:

  1. Two persona profiles possible:
    • A senior HR professional with 15+years of domain expertise.
    • Academically brilliant, with 7-9 years of experience with large growth aspirations.
  2. At least 3 years of Startup experience is definitely needed (latest stint preferred)
  3. Be willing to go through with the founding & leadership teams and push the team to embody our core values
  4. A strong personality with a change management mindset. High level of maturity is hence needed
  5. Must be clear that they will step into an org with very diverse exepctations/requirements.

Base: Chennai HO. Travel to Bangalore office one week per month would be needed.
